Formed in 1992, the Sacramento Regional Solid Waste Authority (SWA) is a joint powers authority that oversees commercial waste management in the City of Sacramento and the unincorporated areas of Sacramento County. The SWA is currently formulating strategies with its partners to reduce blight and illegal dumping, as well as to divert commercially generated food waste.
